COMPOSITION:
Each tablet contains 0.1 mg of Phytomenadione (Vitamin K1).
PROPERTIES:
Vitamin K is a common name for a group of fat-soluble vitamins that are required for the biosynthesis of some of the plasma clotting factors. In vitamin K deficiency there is an increased risk of impaired blood clotting and bleeding. There are three forms of vitamin K - Vitamin K1 (aka phytomenadione) contained in some vegetables, Vitamin K2 (or menaquinone) that is produced by the intestinal flora as well as synthetic Vitamin K3 (menadione). Numerous studies have shown that Vitamin K1 is the most appropriate form of vitamin for overcoming the phenomenon of potential deficiency.
Vitamin K1 plays a key role in the bone tissue homeostasis and its high dose intake has a favorable effect on osteoporosis.
Normally, main intake of Group K vitamins is provided with food (in the form of vitamin K1), and some is produced by intestinal bacteria. The daily requirement for Vitamin K1 in healthy people is 1 microgram / kg of body weight per day. Vitamin K1 is mainly found in green leafy vegetables such as broccoli, cabbage, spinach, salad, etc. However, the vitamin K1 content in these sources is low (less than 10 micrograms per 100 grams) and, moreover, absorption of this vitamin from food sources is relatively low. For people with established or presumed vitamin K deficiency, vitamin K1 should be taken as a food supplement.
