What is Bactroban nasal and what it is used
Bactroban Nasal is a local antibiotic for nasal administration . It is used to treat bacterial infections of the nose. It is especially effective against certain resistant bacteria

2 . What you should know before you apply Bactroban Nasal
Do not apply mupirocin nasal ointment :
If you are allergic (hypersensitive) to mupirocin or any of the other ingredients of Bactroban Nasal . This medicine should not be used in people who are allergic to mupirocin or paraffin. If you think you have signs of allergy (eg rash ) to mupirocin or paraffin should let your doctor before you start receiving Bactroban nasal .
Warnings and Precautions
If during treatment with mupirocin nasal ointment notice skin rash , pain or swelling in the nose , stop the medicine and tell your doctor.
In the application of Bactroban Nasal Avoid contact with eyes. If accidental drug gets in your eyes , you should rinse them thoroughly with water. If the application of the ointment cause any discomfort, stop using it and consult a doctor.
Do not continue use of the drug for a period longer than that prescribed by the physician.
Do not mix Bactroban Nasal other ointments or creams. This may affect its operation.

Other medicines and Bactroban Nasal
Please tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking or have recently taken any other medicines, including medicines obtained without a prescription.

Pregnancy, lactation and fertility
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, you may be pregnant or planning to become pregnant , ask your doctor or pharmacist before taking this medicine. If you are pregnant, you must not use this medicine unless your doctor tells you otherwise advised .

Driving and using machines
The drug did not affect the ability to drive and use machines .

3 . How to use Bactroban Nasal
Always use this medicine exactly as your doctor tells you . If you are not sure, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
Apply Bactroban Nasal twice a day for at least 5 days .
Place a small amount of ointment (the size of a match head ) on a cotton pad and apply it inside the nostrils . Pinch the sides of the nose and gently massage it with your thumb and forefinger . This will help to spread the ointment in the nose.
Apply Bactroban nasal as long as your doctor recommends . Usually this is a period of 5 to 7 days.
Do not apply the medicine for longer than 10 days.

If you use more than the amount of Bactroban Nasal
Unlikely to experience any problems with an overdose .

If you forget to use Bactroban Nasal
If you forget to take the medicine , do it as soon as you remember. Then proceed as before.

4 . Possible side effects
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them .
Adverse reactions during treatment with mupirocin nasal ointment are usually mild .

Uncommon side effects (may affect up to 1 in 100 patients):
runny nose ;
itching, burning , pain at the injection site ; formation of bubbles at the site of administration.
Very rare side effects (may affect up to 1 in 10,000 patients):
Cutaneous hypersensitivity reactions ( allergic dermatitis, bullous dermatitis , erythema, exanthema , pruritus , rash erythematous, generalized rash , macular rash, scarlatiniform rash , vesicular rash, burning sensation of the skin, skin eruptions , skin irritation ) .
Tell your doctor immediately if you develop a skin rash or itching.

In very rare cases following administration of other formulations mupirocin were reported systemic allergic reactions , including . anaphylactic reactions , facial swelling and / or difficulty breathing , swelling around the eyes , generalized urticaria (hives) . If you get any side effects, tell your doctor or pharmacist. This includes any possible side effects not listed in this leaflet.

5 . How to store Bactroban Nasal
Keep out of reach of children.
Do not use Bactroban Nasal after the expiry date stated on the pack . The expiry date refers to the last day of that month.
Store at room temperature (below 25 ° C ) .
Do not dispose of medications in wastewater or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of medicines no longer required . These measures will help to protect the environment.

What does Bactroban Nasal
The active substance is mupirocin (in the form of calcium mupirocin ) 2 % w / w.
The other ingredients are white soft paraffin and softizan .
