What is COXAMIN and what is it used for?
COXAMIN is a unique calcium-containing product, completely plant-based. It is made from Calcified Red Algae - Lithothamnion Calcareum. They inhabit limited territories around the clean shores of South West Ireland and West Iceland. The life cycle of algae is four to five years. For this relatively short period they absorb a great deal of minerals from the sea. COXAMIN has a unique porous structure similar to honeycomb, which after primary hydration changes into smooth. It does not resemble the chalk. A grainy structure with which we usually associate the idea of a calcium product.
COXAMIN is the best digestible calcium product. Calcium obtained from Lithothamnion. Calcareu "is more effectively absorbed by calcium in dairy products.
In COXAMIN, the content is shared between three polymorphic forms - calcite, aragonite (ortho-rhumbic structure), vaterite (hexagonal structure). Calcium carbonate, for example, consists almost entirely of calcite - rhombic lattice.
Structure of COXAMIN
Unique open porous structure; Highly specific surface; Non-tacky taste after hydration; Non-obtuse, neat texture; High buffering capacity; Easily forms emulsions; Promotes the formation of? -crystals; Non-hygroscopic; Mainly calcitic physical structure;
COXAMIN is a multi-mineral material - contains about 34% of calcium, but is also rich in other essential minerals. It also contains Magnesium (2.5%), Bor, Honey, Manganese, Selenium, Zinc and many other microelements and minerals. The magnesium minima contributes to the good absorption of calcium from the body, and the pine and zinc play an important role in the bio-vitality of the calcium source.
COXAMIN and osteoporosis
Bone density increases during childhood, adolescence and a few years thereafter. New bone cells are constantly formed, and the old ones are destroyed. Bones are usually the most dense and durable in the 30s. Osteoporosis (meaning "porous bones") occurs when the bone substance breaks down faster than new tissue is formed.
Osteoporosis is a "quiet" illness. It develops slowly and unnoticed, and when there is pain in the waist, decrease in height and curvature of the spine, the condition is already in a significantly advanced phase. To reduce the risk of osteoporosis in adulthood, prophylaxis should be started early.
Investigations made after 8-week COXAMIN intake and other alternatives for calcium intake showed the following results: tricalcium phosphate had the lowest absorbance of bones - 33.75%, followed by calcium carbonate - 36.8%. COXAMIN has the highest absorption, respectively - 39.4% (Figure I). In the study, Coxamine also exhibited the highest mineral density indices, namely 122% more than tricalcium phosphate and 13.6% better than calcium carbonate (Figure 2).
COXAMIN and arthrosis.
Calcium in the body is in interaction with phosphorus. Vitamin D is responsible for their blood balance. Prolonged calcium deficiency results in its replacement by strontium because it is structurally similar. But the molecular grid of stroning is larger and this causes the appearance of deformations on the bone surfaces - distortions, spikes, seals. They in turn often lead to pain and stiffness in the joints.
A number of scientific studies have been done worldwide on the effect of natural calcium obtained from Lithothamnion Calcareum. Scientists at MARC Humanetics, Minnesota, United States, have unequivocally demonstrated that COXAMIN 12-week treatment significantly reduces pain and stiffness and increases joint mobility. The effect of the intake is shown by a study that demonstrates the increased activity of the patients. Mineral bone density, proven by a knee joint scanner, increases. Signs of improvement were seen around the fifth-sixth week after the start of the study.
COXAMIN and the nervous system.
Only one percent of calcium is found in soft tissues, but if it is missing, the threshold of excitability, which depends on the serum level of the ionized calcium, decreases. Hypocalcaemia leads to increased neuromuscular excitability and tetanus-like symptoms. Adults and children who experience calcium deficiency are restless, with emotional outbursts, libellessness, tendency to depression.

COXAMIN and nutrition.
Like other minerals, the body has an amazing system to maintain the calcium concentration in the blood and tissues in exactly the right amount. The first control point is the intestine. If too much calcium is consumed or enough ionized calcium has already accumulated in the blood, the intestines simply absorb less. If the body needs calcium, the intestines absorb more. The parathyroid hormone monitors all this action and maintains the calcium level at the required concentration and, when necessary, stimulates vitamin D to increase absorption.
Different factors affect how much calcium comes into the body actually reaches the blood.
