DUODART WHAT IS AND WHAT IT IS USED FOR?

Duodart is used to treat men with an enlarged prostate - non-cancer growth of the prostate gland, caused by producing too much hormone called dihydrotestosterone.

Duodart a combination of two different medicines called dutasteride and tamsulosin. Dutasteride belongs to a group of medicines known as inhibitors of 5-alpha reductase and Tamsulosin belongs to a group of medicines called alpha-blockers.

Increasing the size of the prostate can cause urinary problems such as difficulty in passing urine frequently and need the toilet. It may also lead to slower and more subdued stream of urine. If this condition is left untreated, the risk of complete blockage of urine flow, which requires immediate medical treatment. In some cases require surgery to remove or reduce the size of the prostate gland.

Dutasteride reduces the production of dihydrotestosterone, which helps to reduce prostate and relieve symptoms. This will reduce the risk of acute urinary retention and need for surgery. BEFORE YOU TAKE DUODART

Do not take Duodart

 If you are allergic to dutasteride, other inhibitors of 5-alpha reductase inhibitors, tamsulosin or any of the other ingredients of Duodart.

 If you have low blood pressure, you feel dizzy or faint

 If you have severe liver disease.

This medicine is for men only. It should not be taken by women, children or adolescents.

Take special care with Duodart

 Make sure your doctor knows about liver problems. If you have a medical condition that affects your liver, you may need to perform further your studies while taking Duodart.

 Surgery to treat cataracts. If you have scheduled surgery to remove the cataracts of the eyes, your doctor may tell you to temporarily stop taking before surgery Duodart. DOSAGE:

POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS

Allergic reaction 

Signs of an allergic reaction may include:

 Skin rash

 Hives

 Swelling of eyelids, face, lips, hands and feet

Dizziness

Duodart can cause dizziness and fainting occasionally. Until you know how the medicine, gently up from a lying or sitting position, especially if you wake up during the night. If you feel dizzy while on treatment, sit or lie down until symptoms have subsided.

Common side effects:

What Duodart

The active ingredients are dutasteride and tamsulosin hydrochloride. Each capsule contains 0.5 mg dutasteride and 0.4 mg tamsulosin hydrochloride.
