EGILOK 50 mg. 60 tablets

WHAT IS YOUR MEDICINE?

EGILOK (metoprolol) belongs to the group of beta blockers. It is used to treat high blood pressure and angina pain. It is also used in arrhythmias (irregular or fast heartbeat) for maintenance therapy after myocardial infarction and the prophylaxis of migraine attacks.

Each tablet contains EGILOK 25 mg, 50 mg or 100 mg of the active ingredient metoprolol tartrate. As auxiliaries include: magnesium stearate, polyvidone, anhydrous silicon dioxide, sodium starch glycolate and microcrystalline cellulose.

2. WHEN SHOULD NOT TAKE EGILOK?
You should not take the tablets if:

- Are allergic to metoprolol or any of the excipients
- Suffer from severe heart disease for which your doctor has not been notified
- Suffer from asthma

Before starting treatment with EGILOK sure to tell your doctor if you suffer from diabetes if you take other medicines if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant or are breast-feeding.

3. PRECAUTIONS BEFORE taking the tablets

Before starting treatment the doctor may want to examine your liver and kidney functions. Please let them know if you have liver or kidney disease.

4. PRECAUTIONS DURING THE ADOPTION OF TABLETS

Abrupt discontinuation of EGILOK, especially in the presence of heart disease may worsen your condition, so stopping it should be gradual.

If you need surgical or hospitalization for another reason, please tell your doctor that you are taking EGILOK.

5. HOW OTHER medicines may affect your treatment with EGILOK

You have to know that combining some medicines EGILOK is prohibited, while others - requires caution. So let your doctor which medicines you are taking (eg. Medication to lower blood pressure).

6. DRIVE AND USE MACHINES DURING TREATMENT WITH EGILOK

The drug can cause fatigue or light-headedness, which must be taken into account when driving or operating dangerous machinery.

7. DOSAGE

Your doctor or pharmacist will determine the daily dose that you must strictly follow.

High blood pressure: One tablet of 50 mg in the morning and depending on the severity of hypertension, your doctor may appoint another 50 mg in the evening. This dosage may gradually be increased up to 100-200 mg daily, which may be added and other drugs for high blood pressure. EGILOK maximum daily dose is 400 mg.

In angina pectoris: 100-200 mg, in two divided doses. In severe cases, the daily dose may be increased to 400 mg daily. Always strictly follow the doctor's prescriptions for adopting EGILOK.

In cardiac arrhythmias: A starting dose of 100-200 mg daily, divided into two doses (morning and evening). Your doctor may increase the dose to 400 mg daily in two doses.

After myocardial infarction: 200 mg maintenance dose, divided in two intakes.

For the prevention of migraine: 100-200 mg, divided into two doses.

8. SIDE EFFECTS

You may experience the following side effects: fatigue, headache, nausea, dizziness, sleep disturbances and decreased heartbeat. In many cases, these effects are temporary and disappear with dose reduction.

Very rarely can occur skin irritation and cold extremities.

If you experience any other side effects not mentioned in this leaflet, you should tell your doctor.

Contact your doctor for advice if you take too many tablets or suspect that your child has taken the drug. Take this leaflet and the rest of the tablets to show the doctor.

The expiry date is printed on the carton. You must not use the tablets after this date! Do not store above 25 ° C.
