What is Espumisan Comfort 100 mg / ml oral drops, emulsion and what it is used for

This medicine treats the symptoms of flatulence (gas and abdominal gas swelling) and is suitable for all age groups. It acts by breaking the bubbles of foam in the stomach contents and in the mucus of the digestive tract. The thus released gases can be absorbed by the intestinal wall as well as separated by intestinal peristalsis.

Usage

Espumisan Comfort 100 mg / ml oral drops, emulsion is used:

For self-healing:
• for the symptomatic treatment of gastrointestinal complaints associated with gout, e.g. gas accumulation in the intestine (flatulence), flatulence.
Under medical supervision:
• for the symptomatic treatment of gastrointestinal complaints associated with gout, e.g. with increased amount of gas in the intestine after surgery;
• preparing for abdominal diagnostic procedures (eg x-ray, ultrasound, endoscopic examination or as a supplement to contrast media

You should talk to a doctor if, after 3 days, you do not feel better or get worse.

2. What you need to know before you take Espumizan Comfort 100 mg / ml oral drops, an emulsion

Do not take Esmumisan® Comfort 100 mg / ml oral drops, emulsion:
- if you are allergic to simetocon or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6).
- Please note that this may also apply to people who are taking this medicine.

Warnings and precautions
Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking Esmuizan® Comfort 100 mg / ml oral drops, an emulsion.

If new symptoms occur, you should visit a doctor. Do not take this medicine for more than 14 days without consulting a doctor. If the symptoms do not disappear for this period, consult a doctor.

Children and adolescents

Especially if it is used in infants and children, a doctor should be consulted.

Pregnancy, breastfeeding and fertility
If you are pregnant or are breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or plan to become pregnant, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.
As no clinical data on exposed pregnancies are available, this medicine is not recommended during pregnancy and lactation.

Driving and using machines

No special precautions are required.

If you have been told by your doctor that you have an intolerance to some sugars, contact your doctor before taking this medicinal product.

3. How to take Esmuzizan Comfort 100 mg / ml oral drops, emulsion

Always take this medicine exactly as described in the package leaflet or as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. If you are not sure, ask your doctor or pharmacist.

There are two ways to measure the dose of Esmuzizan® Comfort 100 mg / ml oral drops of an emulsion:
Depending on the dose size, it can be measured with:
- Dropper application
- measuring cup, graduated in milliliters (ml)

Dosage

Dose Esmumisan comfort 100 mg / ml oral drops, emulsion depending on the intensity of the complaints.

The recommended dose is:

With self-treatment of gastrointestinal symptoms associated with gas:

Age group Dose dosing (attached dropper)
Infants 5-10 drops are added to the bottle of milk at each meal or given to the infant with a small spoon just before each breastfeeding
1-6 years 10 drops 3 to 5 times a day
6-14 years 10-20 drops 3 to 5 times a day
Adolescents and adults 20 drops 3 to 5 times a day
It is also possible to take this medicine after surgery under medical supervision.

This medicine is taken during a meal or after a meal, and before bedtime, if necessary.

This medicine should be used until complaints continue, but not more than 14 days without medical advice.

This medicine is suitable for long periods of time only after consultation with a doctor. Please read section 2. "Warnings and Precautions".
Before diagnostic procedures following a doctor's recommendation

Dosage in ml (measuring cup)
1 ml 3 times daily after meals on the day before the study and 1 ml on the morning of the study
As a supplement to contrast media under medical supervision

Dosage in ml (measuring cup)
2-4 ml to 1 liter of contrast medium in a double-contrast study
Before examining the stomach and small intestine (endoscopy) under medical supervision

2-3 ml before endoscopy
If necessary, an additional few milliliters of the gas bubble emulsion can be added through the endoscope instrument channel
Directions for use

Shake well before use!

Using the supplied dropper (10-25 drops):
The bottle should be held vertically and the dropper facing downwards.
25 drops are equivalent to 1 ml of the emulsion (equivalent to 100 mg simethicone).

Using the measuring cup:
As a measuring instrument for bottles with a 30 ml and 50 ml dropper, a measuring cup, graduated in milliliters, is attached to the screw cap. If necessary (for example at doses of 25 drops or more), the measuring cup can be pulled out and used for dosing instead of the bottle dropper.
Note: Because of the risk of swallowing, the measuring cup should be kept out of the reach of children.

If you take / take more than the necessary dose of Esmumisan® Comfort 100 mg / ml oral drops, an emulsion

Taking too much of this medicine is unlikely to cause illness. Even large doses of this drug are tolerated without problems. The active substance of this drug, simethicone, causes the gas bubbles to break down in the gastrointestinal tract in a completely physical way. Simethicone is not absorbed and does not change chemically or enzymatically when passing through the intestine.

If you forget to take Esmuziman Comfort 100 mg / ml oral capsules, an emulsion

You may take the missed dose at any time.

If you stop taking Esmuizan Comfort 100 mg / ml oral drops, an emulsion

In this case, complaints may occur again.

4. Possible side effects

Up to now, this drug is not associated with any undesirable effects.
How to store Esmumisan Comfort 100 mg / ml oral drops, an emulsion

Keep out of the reach of children!

Do not use this medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the carton and the label after EXP. The expiry date refers to the last day of that month.

There are no special conditions and requirements for the storage of this medicine.

This drug is stable for 6 months after its first opening.

Do not dispose of medicines in the sewage system or in the household waste container. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of medicines you no longer use. These measures will help to protect the environment.

What Esmumisan Comfort contains 100 mg / ml oral drops, an emulsion

- The active substance is simeticone. 1 ml of emulsion contains 100 mg of simethicone.

- Other ingredients are:
Macrogol stearate, glycerol monostearate 40-55, sorbic acid, sodium hydroxide (to achieve a certain pH), acesulfame potassium, sodium chloride, liquid sorbitol (non-crystallising) (E 420), carbomer, sodium citrate, banana flavor, purified water.

Esmuziasan Comfort 100 mg / ml oral drops emulsion is a milky white, slightly viscous emulsion in a 30 ml or 50 ml dark glass bottle with a dropper attached, a screw cap with a protective ring that breaks off at first opening and is applied measuring cup.
