Properties and action
EUCARBON contains only plant and mineral substances, regulates the intestines and has a slight laxative effect. It can be explained by the ability of the carbon to sink with various toxic metabolites, which are released as a result of the laxative effect of leaf leaves and rhubarb extract. EUCARBON also acts slightly disinfecting the gastrointestinal tract. The light laxative effect of EUCARBON begins 8-10 hours after it is taken.
Indications
Constipation, especially accompanied by complaints of cramps, swelling, increased gas formation, and laziness in the intestines.
Method of administration and dosage
EUCARBON tablets should be taken with a large amount of liquid, unless otherwise stated, the dosage should be strictly observed.
Adults and children over 12 years:
1-2 tablets up to 3 times a day during a meal or afterwards achieving a slight laxative effect and reducing swelling. If a stronger lightening effect is sought, the evening dose may be increased to 3-4 tablets.
For intensive cleaning and removal of gases from the gastrointestinal tract (prior to X-ray examination, etc.):
6th tablets in the evening. The duration of treatment should not exceed 2 weeks.
Maximum daily doses:
8 tablets for intense purging and removing gastrointestinal tract gases (eg before X-ray contrast) 2 x 3 or 3 x 2 (= 6) tablets - to achieve a laxative effect.
In pregnancy and lactation, it is necessary to seek advice from the treating physician before starting EUCARBON. Its use is not recommended during the first 3 months of pregnancy and during lactation.
Contraindications
Increased sensitivity to any of the constituents of the preparation, intestinal obstruction, intestinal inflammation and abdominal pain of unknown origin, suspected gastric and intestinal ulcers, inflammation of the appendix. In these cases it is necessary to consult a doctor.
Interactions with other medicines
With increased potassium loss (potassium deficiency) caused by EUCARBON, the action of individual cardiac agents (cardiac glycosides) may be increased. Increased potassium loss can be increased by concomitant use with other medicines - diuretics, (dehydrating), glucocorticoid hormones.
Overdose
The onset of diarrhea is a sure sign of overdose. In this case, the preparation should be discontinued and the doctor should be consulted.
Adverse drug reactions
Adverse reactions are rarely seen in the recommended dose. Severe cases of abdominal pain, diarrhea, rare nausea or vomiting - may be a sign of overdose. When taken in high doses, prolonged time may lead to the loss of electrolytes (especially potassium), which is expressed as muscle weakness and increased constipation. Sometimes, a slight yellow or red coloration of the urine may be observed, which however is not of clinical significance.
Special warnings and precautions for use
The dose required for safe operation may be individually different. The onset of a disorder (diarrhea) is a sign of overdose. The prolonged use of EUCARBON should be avoided. Longer use may result in a weakening of the action. Chronic use may lead to increased constipation, reduced bowel tone, and water-electrolyte disturbances (decreased potassium in the blood). EUCARBON is not recommended for patients with haemorrhoids (haemorrhage), gout or oxalate kidney stones because of rhubarb. EUCARBON should not be used as a weight loss product. If symptoms persist after taking the medicine or the condition gets worse, contact your doctor for advice.
