WHAT IS IBANDRONIC ACID TEVA AND WHAT TO USE
Ibandronic Acid Teva belongs to a group of medicines called bisphosphonates. It contains ibandronic acid. Does not contain hormones.
Ibandronic Acid Teva can cause back development of bone loss by stopping bone loss continued in most women who take it, even if they do not notice the difference. Ibandronic Acid Teva can reduce the chance of broken bones (fractures). This reduction in fractures has been found for the bones of the spine, but not for the hip.
Ibandronic Acid Teva is prescribed for the treatment of osteoporosis, because you have an increased risk of fractures. Osteoporosis represents a thinning and weakening of the bones, which is a common condition in women at menopause. During menopause the ovaries of women produce female sex hormones estrogen, which is involved in maintaining the strength of the skeleton.
The sooner a woman enters menopause, the higher is the risk of fractures in osteoporosis. Other factors that increase the risk of fractures are:
inadequate intake of calcium and vitamin d in the diet;
smoking or drinking large amounts of alcohol;
not enough walking or other exercise;
family history of osteoporosis.
Most people with osteoporosis do not have symptoms. If you have no symptoms may not know that you have this condition. However, osteoporosis predisposes to a greater likelihood of breaking bones, if you fall or injure yourself. Broken bone after 50 years of age may be a sign of osteoporosis. Osteoporosis can also cause pain in the back, reducing the size and appearance of the hump.
Ibandronic Acid Teva prevents the loss of bone density due to osteoporosis and the bone. Therefore, Ibandronic Acid Teva reduces the likelihood of breaking bones.
A healthy lifestyle will help to obtain the greatest benefit from your treatment. It includes a balanced diet rich in calcium and vitamin d, walking and other exercise for weight control, stop smoking; less alcohol.
