Take special care with L- Thyroxine 100 Berlin - Chemie

Before treatment with L- Thyroxine 100 Berlin - Chemie, should exclude the following diseases: coronary artery disease (e.g., angina pectoris ) , hypertension , impaired function of the pituitary gland or the adrenal cortex and the presence of areas of the thyroid gland , which autonomously produces thyroid hormones . In coronary artery disease , heart failure or abnormal heart rhythm with increased heart rate , should be avoided in all circumstances, even a slight increase in thyroid gland ( hyperthyroidism ) induced by levothyroxine .

In underactive thyroid gland disorder due to a pituitary must determine whether there is also a reduced function of the adrenal cortex . If necessary, this condition should be treated before starting therapy with thyroid hormone.

If you postmenopausal woman with hypothyroidism , and increased risk of osteoporosis, thyroid function must be controlled more frequently , in order to avoid increased levels of levothyroxine in the blood.

For example, if you are patient on hemodialysis and treated with sevelamer drug in the context of very high levels of phosphate in the blood , your doctor may monitor certain parameters in the blood of the effectiveness of levothyroxine ( see " Taking other medicines") .

In elderly patients need careful dosing and frequent consultation with a doctor.

Taking other medicines

Please tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking or have recently taken any other medicines, including medicines obtained without a prescription.

Amplify the effect of L- Thyroxine 100 Berlin - Chemie to an increased risk of side effects

Salicylates ( medicines against fever and pain ) , dicumarol ( a drug that inhibits the blood coagulation ) , high doses of furosemide ( a drug that increases urination) (250 mg), clofibrate ( a drug that reduces the levels of lipids in the blood) and other substances may increase blood levels of levothyroxine .

The rapid intravenous administration of phenytoin may lead to increased blood levels of thyroid hormone , and to contribute to the onset of an abnormal heart rhythm .

Weaken the effect of L- Thyroxine 100 Berlin - Chemie

Cholestyramine or colestipol (medicines to lower blood lipids ) inhibit the absorption of levothyroxine from the intestines and therefore should be taken 4-5 hours after L- Thyroxine 100 Berlin - Chemie .

Levothyroxine absorption from the gut may be reduced by concomitant administration of aluminum - containing antacids connecting stomach acid medicines containing calcium carbonate and iron. Therefore L- Thyroxine 100 Berlin - Chemie should be taken at least two hours prior to administration of these drugs. Propylthiouracil ( antithyroid ) , glucocorticoids ( hormones of the adrenal cortex ) , beta-blockers (medicines to lower high blood pressure) and iodinated contrast media can inhibit the conversion of levothyroxine in the effective form ( CA) thyroid hormone .

Sertraline ( medicine for depression ) and chloroquine / proguanil ( medicine against malaria and rheumatic diseases) decrease the effectiveness of levothyroxine . Barbiturates ( certain hypnotics) and certain other medicines may increase the breakdown of levothyroxine in the liver.

Needs of levothyroxine may increase during hormonal drugs for contraception or hormone replacement therapy at menopause.

Sevelamer ( a medicament for lowering elevated levels of phosphate in the blood of dialysis patients) may reduce the absorption and efficacy of levothyroxine . Therefore L- Thyroxine 100 Berlin - Chemie must be taken at least 1 hour before or 3 hours after sevelamer intake . Your doctor will monitor thyroid function more frequently ( see " Take special care with L- Thyroxine 100 Berlin - Chemie " ) .

Other possible interactions

Amiodarone (a medicine to treat abnormal heart rhythms ) due to the high content of iodine can cause both hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism. Particular care is needed for the crop with knotted Genre areas producing hormones ( autonomy ) .

Levothyroxine may increase the effects of other drugs that inhibit blood clotting ( coumarin derivatives ) and reduce the effect of medicines that lower blood sugar. When concomitant treatment with these drugs and levothyroxine , especially in the beginning , your doctor will monitor the parameters of coagulation and blood glucose levels and , if necessary, adjust the dose of drugs that inhibit blood clotting or medicines to lower blood sugar.

Taking L- Thyroxine 100 Berlin - Chemie with other drugs

Products containing soy can impair levothyroxine absorption from the gut . At the beginning and at the end of a diet consisting of soy bean, it may be necessary adjusting the dose of L- Thyroxine 100 Berlin - Chemie .

Pregnancy and lactation

Ask your doctor or pharmacist before taking any medicine.

Continuous replacement therapy with thyroid hormone is particularly important during pregnancy and lactation and should therefore be continued. Despite the widespread use during pregnancy has risks to the fetus are not known. The amount of thyroid hormones that are secreted in human milk , even when treated with high doses of levothyroxine is very low and safe .

The needs of levothyroxine can be increased during pregnancy in women with hypothyroidism due to high levels of estrogen (female hormone ) in the blood . Therefore, thyroid function should be monitored both during the pregnancy and then the dose of thyroid hormone should be corrected .

However L- Thyroxine 100 Berlin - Chemie should not be co-administered with drugs that inhibit the increased thyroid function ( thyreostatics ) during pregnancy . This can lead to a greater demand of antithyroid . Unlike levothyroxine thyreostatics can reach the circulation of the fetus through the placenta and can lead to fetal hypothyroidism . Therefore, during pregnancy the treatment of hyperthyroidism must be carried out with lower doses thyreostatics .

During pregnancy should be made thyroid suppression test .

During pregnancy and lactation should be strictly dose prescribed by the physician and should not be exceeded.
