Soft, elongated, transparent gelatin capsules for oral administration containing pale yellow
oil.

WHAT IT IS USED OMAKOR

 After MI

Adjuvant therapy for secondary prevention after myocardial infarction to other standard therapy (eg statins, antiplatelet agents, betablokeri, ACE inhibitors).

  Hypertriglyceridaemia

Endogenous hypertriglyceridemia as an adjunct to diet when diet alone is insufficient to produce an adequate response:

  an increase in self-triglyceride is used primarily to treat only Omakor;

  in combination with high cholesterol is better to combine with articles.

WHAT IS AND HOW DOES OMAKOR

 Omakor is highly concentrated purified natural product (90%) of the series Omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids.

  The series of omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids: eicosapentaenoic (EPA) and docosahexaenoic (DNA) acids belong to a group of essential fatty acids for the body.

 Omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids have anti-inflammatory, antithrombotic effect (decreased blood clots) and reduce high blood pressure by reducing vascular walls.

Omakor exercises its effect by lowering levels of triglycerides in the blood and the formation of triglycerides in the liver, which reduces the risk of heart attack.

These qualities were demonstrated in a clinical study of 11,324 patients with recent myocardial infarction. The aim of the study was treated with prophylactic administration of Omakor, vitamin E, vitamin E + Omakor or without treatment associated with a Mediterranean diet rich in fish products.

The study used Omakor dose of 1 capsule / day for 3.5 years. The relative risk is evaluated using a combined order, including: mortality, nonfatal myocardial infarction and nonfatal stroke.

The results obtained in Omakor treatment showed a significant reduction in total mortality, nonfatal myocardial infarction and nonfatal stroke.

WHEN NOT TO USE OMAKOR

If hypersensitivity to any component of the product.

WHAT YOU SHOULD CONSIDER DURING PREGNANCY AND LACTATION

There are no adequate data from the use of Omakor in pregnant women. The potential risk for humans is unknown and therefore Omakor should not be used during pregnancy or lactation without the benefit / risk.

WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW TO DRIVE AND USE MACHINES

Omakor no effect on driving and operating machinery.

SPECIAL WARNINGS FOR TREATMENT WITH OMAKOR

Warnings

De to the moderate increase in bleeding time (at high doses, such as 4 capsules), patients treated with anticoagulants should be monitored and if necessary to adjust the dose of anticoagulant. Use of this medication does not eliminate the need for monitoring is usually required for such patients.

Take into account prolonged bleeding time in patients at high risk of bleeding (due to severe trauma, surgery, etc.).

  lack of data on safety and efficacy, the use of this medicine in children is not recommended.

Omakor not indicated in exogenous hypertriglyceridaemia (type 1 hiperhilomikronemiya). There is only limited experience in secondary endogenous hipertrigli-tseridemiya (especially uncontrolled diabetes).

No experience with hypertriglyceridemia in combination with fibrates.

Special warnings

In patients with hepatic impairment (particularly at high doses, such as 4 capsules) requires regular monitoring of liver function (ASAT and ALAT).

WHAT SIDE EFFECTS May cause OMAKOR

Depending on the frequency of adverse reactions are:

 Common: indigestion, nausea;

  Uncommon: abdominal pain, gastrointestinal disorders, gastritis, pain in the upper abdomen, hypersensitivity gastroenteritis, dizziness, change in taste;

  Rare: pain in the gastro - intestinal tract, headache, hyperglycemia, liver damage, acne, rash, malaise;

 Very rare: gastrointestinal bleeding, hypotension, dry nose, hives, increased number of white blood cells, increased levels of lactate dehydrogenase.

In patients with hypertriglyceridemia was reported modest increases in transaminase levels (indicators of liver function).

WHAT OTHER PHARMACEUTICAL PRODUCTS influence EFFECT OF OMAKOR

No significant drug interactions when taking with other medications Omakor!

Oral anticoagulants: See information listed under "Special considerations for treatment Omakor!" 

Omakor coadministered with warfarin without bleeding complications. However, prothrombin time should be checked when Omakor combined with warfarin or when treatment stops Omakor.

To avoid possible harmful interactions with treatment with several drugs regularly inform your doctor of any other medicine you are taking now! 

How much and how often you can TAKE OMAKOR

  After myocardial infarction: one capsule a day.

  Hidertriglitseridemiya

Initial treatment two capsules a day. If you do not receive an adequate response, the dose may be increased to four capsules daily.

The capsules should be taken with food to avoid gastrointestinal disturbances.

  No information regarding the use of Omakor in children, adults over 70 years of age and in patients with hepatic impairment, there is only limited information regarding its use in patients with renal impairment.

The dosage and length of treatment is determined by your doctor.

OVERDOSE

No special recommendations. 

In case of overdose, you should call a doctor! 

Apply symptomatic therapy.
