SUZASTOR 10 mg. 30 tablets

WHAT SUZASTOR AND WHAT IT IS USED
Suzastor belongs to a group of medicines called statins (inhibitors of HMG-CoA reductase).

Suzastor is prescribed to you as:
You have elevated cholesterol. This means that you are at risk of heart attack or stroke.
Recommended you take a statin, because changing your diet and performing more exercise were not enough to correct cholesterol levels in you. You should continue your diet and exercise to lower cholesterol while taking Suzastor.

or
There are other factors that increase the risk of heart attack, stroke or other related health problems.
Heart attack, stroke and other problems can be caused by a condition called atherosclerosis. Atherosclerosis due to the accumulation of fatty deposits in the arteries.

Why is it important to continue taking Suzastor?
Suzastor is used to correct the levels of fatty substances in the blood called lipids, the most common of which is cholesterol.
There are different types of cholesterol in the blood - 'bad' cholesterol (lipoprotein cholesterol or low-density LDL cholesterol) and "good" cholesterol (cholesterol lipoprotein, high density or HDL cholesterol).
Suzastor can reduce levels of "bad" cholesterol and increase levels of good cholesterol;
Its action consists in this, that helps block the formation of "bad" cholesterol in your body and improves your body's ability to remove it from your blood.
For most people, high cholesterol does not affect the way in which they feel because they do not cause any symptoms. However, if cholesterol is not treated, the walls of your blood vessels can form fatty deposits and so they will narrow.
Sometimes narrowed blood vessels can become blocked and this will stop the flow of blood to the heart or brain, leading to heart attack or stroke. By lowering your cholesterol levels, you can reduce the risk of heart attack, stroke or other related health problems.
We need to continue taking Suzastor even if your cholesterol has reached the normal values, as this drug prevents new increase your cholesterol. However, you should stop if your doctor tells you or if you become pregnant.
