WHAT IS AND WHAT IT IS USED ARICEPT?
Arisept belongs to a group of medicines called acetylcholinesterase inhibitors.
It is used to treat the symptoms of dementia in individuals diagnosed with mild to moderately severe Alzheimer's disease. These symptoms include increasing memory loss, confusion and behavioral changes. As a result, suffering from Alzheimer's increasingly difficult perform their usual daily activities.
 
BEFORE YOU TAKE ARICEPT:
Do not take Arisept if you have or have had:
- Ulcer of stomach or duodenum
- seizures
- Heart disease
- Liver problems or hepatitis
- Asthma or other long-term lung disease
- Difficulty in urination.
 
Use with other drugs:
Tell your doctor if you are taking the following medicines:
- Analgesic or the treatment of arthritis, e. aspirin, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs such as ibuprofen or diclofenac sodium
- antibiotics
- An antifungal medicine
- antidepressants
  - Muscle relaxants
- Medicines for heart disease
- General anesthesia
- Medicines obtained without a prescription
 
Pregnancy and lactation
Should not be taken during breastfeeding.
If you are pregnant, consult your doctor.
 
HOW TO TAKE ARICEPT?
Treatment usually starts with a 5 mg every night. After a month your doctor may tell you to take 10 mg every night.
Swallow your tablet with a glass of water at bedtime.
 
POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS:
Very common - diarrhea, nausea, headache
Common - muscle cramps, fatigue, difficulty sleeping, cold, hallucinations, agitation, loss of appetite, dizziness, upset stomach, rash, itching, uncontrolled urination and more.
Uncommon - seizures, slow heart rate, stomach ulcer, bleeding from the stomach and intestines
Rare - stiffness, tremors or uncontrolled movements, especially of the face and tongue, as well as the limbs; liver damage, hepatitis
 
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
The active ingredient is donepezil hydrochloride. Tablets of 5 mg containing 5 mg of donepezil hydrochloride and 10 mg tablets containing 10 mg of donepezil hydrochloride.
The other ingredients are lactose, maize starch, microcrystalline cellulose, hydroxypropyl cellulose, magnesium stearate, hypromellose, talc, macrogol, titanium dioxide.
Tablets of 10 mg comprise synthetic yellow iron oxide
