What is Hepa-Merz granules and what is it used?
Hepa-Merz is a medicinal product that accelerates the release of ammonia from the body by increasing the synthesis of urea in the liver.
Besides contributing to the accelerated release of ammonia from tissues outside the liver.
Hepa-Merz is used for treatment of concomitant and subsequent complications due to impaired hepatic detoxification function (e.g. liver cirrhosis)

2. Before using Hepa-Merz
Hepa-Merz should not apply to:
- Do not use in hypersensitivity to L-ornithine-L-aspartate, yellow-orange color E110 or other ingredients of the product.
- In severe renal impairment (kidney failure) serum creatinine levels above 3 mg. / 100 ml may serve as a reference).
- No data on drug use in children

What other products influence the effect of Hepa-Merz, or may be affected?
Tell your doctor if you are taking / have taken recently other medicines, even if they are without a prescription.
So far no evidence of drug interactions with other products.

Pregnancy and lactation:
The safety of this product for use during pregnancy or lactation has not been proven. It is not known whether the active substance passes into breast milk. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant, breastfeeding or plan to become pregnant and take this product if you have been prescribed by a doctor. Ask your doctor or pharmacist before taking any medicine.

Effects on ability to drive and use machines:
Due to the nature of the treated disease the ability to drive and use machines may be reduced during treatment with Hepa-Merz.

Important information about some of the ingredients of Hepa-Merz granules:
This medicinal product contains fructose. If you know that you have an intolerance to some sugars, before taking his contact your doctor.
One sachet contains 1,13 g of fructose, which corresponds to 0,11 BU (bread units). Be considered in patients suffering from diabetes mellitus.
With continued use Hepa-Merz granules can be harmful to the teeth (caries)

3. How can you use Hepa-Merz?
Always take Hepa-Merz granules exactly as your doctor tells you if you're not sure, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
Unless otherwise indicated, the usual dose is: 1-2 sachets to 3 times daily.

Route of administration:
The contents of the sachet are dissolved in a very fluid (e.g. a glass of water, tea or juice) and drunk during or after meals.
What should you do if you received a large amount of Hepa-Merz There were no signs of intoxication overdose of L-ornithine L-aspartate. If necessary, your doctor will administer symptomatic treatment.

What to do if you miss use of the product?
Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed dose. If you missed the application of the product, please proceed according to the dosing instructions.

4. Possible side effects
Like all medicines Hepa-Merz granules can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them
The frequency of observed side effects are defined as follows:
Very common:> 1/10 patients
Common:> 1/100, <1/10 patients
Uncommon:> 1/1000, <1/100 patients
Rare> 1/10000, <1/1000 patients
Very rare <1/10000, including isolated cases

Possible side effects:
Uncommon: nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, gas, diarrhea Rare: pain in extremity
These side effects are usually transient, but they do not require interruption of therapy
Hepa-Merz granules contain yellow-orange color EEC, which may cause allergic reactions.

5. How to store Hepa-Merz:
Keep out of reach of children!
Do not use after the expiration date printed on the package! Keep at temperatures below 25 ° C!
